| Renewable Energy Systems | Ground Source Heat Pumps. | Vaillant Heat Pumps Geotherm
Vaillant's latest innovation in domestic energy conservation will be launched in April 2008, underlying our commitment to develop effective renewable energy solutions. Energy from the ground can be used by a heat pump to provide useful energy to heat the home. Ground source heat pumps offer excellent energy savings as up to 75% energy for heating can be extracted from the ground. Clean and efficient use of free energy source to provide heating and hot water Every 1kW used to run the heat pump generates approximately 4kW to heat the home Low energy bills Reduces use of fossil fuels Reduces CO2 emissions Grants available from the Low Carbon Buildings Programme
A closed loop of pipe is installed in the ground and filled with glycol anti-freeze mixture - The fluid is warmed by the latent heat in the ground to about 10-12°C and pumped to the heat pump where the heat is transferred to the closed pressurised compressor circuit in the heat pump - The heat pump then provides warm water for the heating system - The ground source heat pump can also be used to provide hot water
